The block on the Adriaan Pauwstraat is to be the first project for the renewal of Babberspolder Oost in Vlaardingen. In the second half of 2003, Waterweg Wonen commissioned us to investigate the potential for building an attractive residential block for the elderly within the preconditions applicable to this project.

A tower and an enclosed building block with openings are linked by a large commercial space. The tower is ten stories high, the block is four stories high on all sides. An important element in the outline plan is the courtyard. Through openings on the West side of the block, a smaller scale is created in the Adriaan Pauwstraat where the district changes into low-rise buildings.

Another characteristic element is the square on the van Hogendorplaan. In the commercial space within our plan, the shopping strip on van Hogendorplaan ends at this square.
