In Purmerend zijn twee kleine woongebouwen voor senioren in gebruik genomen. De gebouwen zijn ontworpen als alzijdige objecten in een groenzone langs het Noord-Hollands Kanaal. .

In Purmerend in the North of Holland, these two small apartment blocks for senior citizens are put into use. The buildings are designed as objects in a green parc along the Noord-Hollands Kanaal.

Op 7 december opende in China de Hongkong and Shenzhen biënnale voorarchitectuur en stedenbouw. Het Nederlandse paviljoen is ingericht door hetNAi en China's grootste projectontwikkelaar VANKE in het kader van het China-Holland MatchMaking project. Het eerste resultaat is de expositie 'housing with a mission' , waar het project voor 1000 woningen in Beijing in een enorme maquette wordt getoond. Vijf Chinese* en vijf Nederlandse** architectenbureaus hebben samengewerkt aan dit pilotproject voor zeer kleine en daardoor betaalbare woningen voor de "ant tribe". Deze generatie van miljoenen jonge afgestudeerden wordt zo genoemd omdat ze intelligent ennijver zijn, maar met zeer velen opeengepakt wonen in vaak mensonterende omstandigheden en werken in slecht betaalde banen.Het project van Arons en Gelauff is van binnenuit ontworpen. Uitgekiende interieurs kunnen aangepast worden aan het wisselend gebruik van de ruimte.
Het bed verdwijnt onder de zithoek, het keukenblok klapt uit tot eettafel, de
bank is in- en uitschuifbaar net als de garderobe kasten. In de dubbele vloer van het minibalkon zit de airco. Het gehele project zal eind volgend jaar in aanbouw worden genomen.

On december 7th, the Hongkong and Shenzhen biennale on architecture and urbanism opened. The Dutch pavillion is co-hosted by the Netherlands Architecture institute and China's largest real estate
developer VANKE as a first result of the China - Holland MatchMaking project. The project 'housing with a mission' is designed as a coproduction by five Chinese* and five Dutch** architectural offices and aims at building 1000 dwellings for the 'Ant Tribe' in Beijing. This is the Chinese name for the generation of millions of young graduates who live in cramped conditions in the outskirts of cities and work in low-paid jobs.
The design of the aronsgelauff project started from the interior. Sophisticated flexible fixtures can adapt to changing use of space. The bed slides underneath the lounge, the kitchen unfolds to a dining
table, the kitchenbench and wardrobe shelving are all rectractable. In the double floor of the the tiny balcony the AC device is stowed. Construction starts at the end of next year.
