Boekpresentatie in Frankfurt
Op 25 februari 2010 wordt in het Duitse Architectuur Museum (DAM) in Frankfurt het boek "Neuer Wohnungsbau in den Niederlande - Konzepte, Typologien, Projecte" van Leonhard Schenk en Rob van Gool gepresenteerd. Voor deze overzichtsuitgave zijn 59 markante, recente projecten geselecteerd, die gezamenlijk een interessant beeld geven van Nederlandse architectuur, gezien door Duitse ogen. Zowel De Plussenburgh als De Rokade staan erin.
On February 25, 2010 the new book "Neuer Wohnungsbau in den Niederlande - Konzepte, Typologien, Projecte"by Leonhard Schenk and Rob van Gool will be presented in the German Museum of Architecture (DAM) in Frankfurt. The book presents the state of the art in Dutch architecture as seen from a German perspective. 59 outstanding projects are presented, including two of our own: The Plussenburgh in Rotterdam, and The Rokade in Groningen.

Britse belangstelling voor Rokade en Plussenburgh
Deze zomer heeft een Britse delegatie van architecten en ontwikkelaars in ouderenhuisvesting ("HAPPI") een werkbezoek gebracht aan de beste projecten in West Europa op dit gebied. Hieronder waren onze projecten in Groningen (de Rokade) en Rotterdam (de Plussenburgh). Begin december zijn de bevindingen op een conferentie gepresenteerd, hetgeen ook in The Guardian tot aandacht voor De Rokade leidde.
A panel of British housing experts that goes by the name of HAPPI has come up with a radical rethink of their country’s approach to providing homes for older people. To explain their vision, the panel tracked down and visited various well-designed retirement dwellings in Sweden, Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands. The conclusions were presented at a conference in December, which led to several publications, including this article in The Guardian.

Afgelopen vrijdag hebben vier architecten hun schetsontwerp voor het nieuwe verenigingsgebouw van HC AthenA gepresenteerd.

Zo wil ik wonen
Op 25 november 2009 vindt het kennisfestival 'Zo wil ik wonen' plaats in De Doelen te Rotterdam (Neprom en Architectuur Lokaal). Over de waarde van ideeën- prijsvragen wordt gediscussieerd door Floor Arons en Arnoud Gelauff (2007, Pontsteiger), Tanja Concko (1990, Europan), de combinatie Tjeerd Haccoû / Sascha Glasl (2009, DOOM.NH) en Reinoud Bakker.

COn November 25th 2009 the knowledge festival 'Zo wil ik wonen' (This is how I want to live) will take place in De Doelen in Rotterdam (Neprom en Architectuur Lokaal). Ontwerp gebouw Ponsteiger afgerond
Begin november is het technisch ontwerp voor het project Pontsteiger afgerond. Hiervan is een nieuwe animatie op de projectpagina te vinden.

Arons en Gelauff bouwt door

Ontwerp Blijvenburg definitief
Deze maand is het ontwerp voor twee woongebouwen in Rotterdam Overschie definitief vastgesteld. Met de vaststelling is meteen het startsein gegeven voor bouw van de eerste fase van het project: 100 woningen voor ouderen met aan zorg gerelateerde functies.
Het plan is opgezet volgens de stedenbouwkundige uitgangspunten van de strokenbouw uit de wederopbouwperiode. Vanuit het gedifferentieerde woonprogramma is hier een eigentijdse invulling aan gegeven.
The designs for two apartment buildings in Rotterdam Overschie were finalized this month, allowing the start signal for the construction of the first phase of the project, a building containing 100 apartments for senior citizens and associated care related functions.
The plan is organized in the tradition of the post-war modernism movement's slab-topology, with the differentiated housing program resulting in a contemporary interpretation.
Calandparc genomineerd
Calandparc is genomineerd voor de Amsterdamse Nieuwbouwprijs 2009. Onze drie urban villa's aan de Pieter Calandlaan behoren tot de tien finalisten voor de Amsterdamse Nieuwbouwprijs 2009.
Voor deze unieke woningbouwprijs worden projecten aangedragen door de bewoners van Amsterdam, en de winnaar wordt bepaald door het publiek. Minister Van der Laan reikt de prijs uit aan de bewoners van het winnende project op 29 oktober in de Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam. Breng uw stem hier uit.
Calandparc is nominated for Amsterdamse Nieuwbouwprijs 2009. Our three urban villa project, located on the Pieter Calandlaan, has been selected as one of the ten finalists for the Amsterdam New Building prize 2009. For this unique residential building prize, projects are nominated by the residents of Amsterdam, and the winner is chosen by the public. The prize will be presented to winning project's residents by Minister Van der Laan on the 29th of October, at the Amsterdam Public Library. Cast your vote here.
Arons en Gelauff wint Silo's
Op woensdag 8 april maakte wethouder Maarten van Poelgeest (ruimtelijke ordening) de winnaar bekend van de herontwikkelingsprijsvraag voor twee oude rioolzuiveringssilo's in Amsterdam Zeeburg: het Annie MG Schmidt Huis.
Het winnende plan is een multifunctioneel cultuurhuis, dat uiteenlopende activiteiten en functies herbergt, met een spectaculaire open speeltuin op het dak van de ene silo en op het dak van de andere restaurant Praq op 't daq. Van tentoonstellingsruimte en mediacentrum tot bioscoop, van theaterzaal tot torenkamer, van de winkel tot het restaurant: de deuren staan 7 dagen per week, het hele jaar door, wagenwijd open voor bezoekers en buurtbewoners. Daarmee krijgen de silo's een inspirerende, levendige bestemming, die meebepalend is voor de ontwikkeling van de nieuwe wijk Zeeburgereiland.
On Wednesday the 8th of April city planning councilman Maarten van Poelgeest announced the winner of the adaptive reuse design competition for the two former sewage treatment silos in Amsterdam's Zeeburg district: the Annie MG Schmidt House. Annie MG Schmidt (1911-1995) is Holland's most famous author of childrens books..
The winning plan is a mutifunctional cultural center, housing a wide range of diverse activities, including a spectacular open rooftop playground on one silo, and restaurant Praq op 't daq built on the rooftop of the other. The doors to the exhibition spaces and media center, movie theater and theater hall, tower room and shops, as well as those of the restaurant, are open seven days a week the whole year through, welcoming visitors and locals alike. The project breathes new life into the silos, transforming them into an inspiring and lively place which will help shape the character of the new Zeeburgereiland housing district.
Blijvenburg fase 1
De 30 koop- en 70 huur- en zorgappartementen van Blijvenburg "Overijssel" worden vanaf 1 april aangeboden door Woonstad Rotterdam. Meer informatie is te vinden op de projectpagina en de site van Blijvenburg.
On April first Woonstad Rotterdam presented phase 1 of the Blijvenburg "Overijssel" project, consisting of 30 apartments available for purchase, and 70 rental and assisted living apartments. More information can be found on the projectpage and at the Blijvenburg site
Mercon
Staalbedrijf Mercon uit Gorinchem wil een nieuw kantoor bouwen, en heeft ons ontwerp gekozen in een besloten competitie.
Mercon Steel, from Gorinchem, Holland, has chosen Arons en Gelauff architecten to design their new headquarters, after an invited competition.
Pontsteiger
Het ontwerp voor de Pontsteiger aan de zuidelijke IJ-oever in de Westelijke Houthavens in Amsterdam, is voltooid. Het imposante gebouw, met ondermeer circa 250 luxe appartementen, twee lagen horeca en hotelsuites op 60 meter hoogte, krijgt een zeer duurzaam karakter.
Voorbeelden daarvan zijn: warmte/ koudeopslag in de grond, vloerverwarming en koeling, warmteterugwinning en een groendak. Meer informatie op de projectpagina.

The design for the Pontsteiger on the southern banks of the IJ river, located on the western Houthavens-district in Amsterdam is completed. The impressive building houses 250 luxury apartments and two floors of restaurant and hotel functions at 60 meters above floor level. The design has a high level of sustainability, with a groundwater thermal storage system, low energy floor heating and cooling and green roof. More information can be found here. Bilgaard
De bouw van winkelcentrum Bilgaard in Leeuwarden is half februari 2009 gestart. Alle resterende winkels uit het oude plan zijn gesloopt en de eerste nieuwe winkels worden naar verwachting eind 2009 opgeleverd. De bijna 90 woningen die boven het winkelcentrum komen, worden gefaseerd opgeleverd vanaf oktober 2010.
The Construction for the shopping center Bilgaard in Leeuwarden started in mid February 2009. The existing stores from the old plan were demolished and the first stores are planned to be completed by the end 2009. The completion of the first of the nearly 90 apartments above the shopping center, is expected by October 2010.

Van 23 januari t/m 29 maart 2009 is in het RAP architectuurcentrum in Leiden de expositie Architectuur en Alfabet over de symbiotische relatie tussen letters en gebouwen. Het woongebouw aan de Adriaan Pauwstraat in Vlaardingen met de tekst "EVEN" maakt deel uit van de expositie. Meer info vindt u op www.rapsite.nl.

Petten
De 15 ouderenwoningen en huisartsenpraktijk in Petten, ontworpen voor de Bouwcompagnie, zijn eind vorig jaar opgeleverd. De foto's volgen later.
15 dwellings for the elderly as well as space for a general practitioner, designed for the Bouwcompagnie, were completed last year. Pictures to follow.
Blijvenburg
Sinds begin 2008 wordt gewerkt aan project Blijvenburg in Rotterdam: 20.000 m² woningbouw in twee fasen. De flat die stond op de bouwlocatie van fase 1 is inmiddels gesloopt en met de bouw van fase 1 (104 galerij appartementen) wordt zomer 2009 gestart. Meer informatie vindt u hier.
The design of the Blijvenburg project in Rotterdam has been underway since early 2008, comprising 20.000 m² of housing in two phases. The existing flat on the site has been removed, and construction of the first phase (104 gallery apartments) will begin in the summer of 2009. More information can be found here.
De Bouwmeester
Ons ontwerp voor de sloop en nieuwbouw van drie van de vier gebouwdelen van De Drie Hoven van Herman Hertzberger is als tweede geëindigd in meervoudige opdracht De Bouwmeester. Winnaar was Bentvelsen Fleer (www.bf-as.nl)
Our design for the replacement of three from the four buildings comprising De Drie Hoeven, designed by Herman Hertzberger and part of the Bouwmeester project, was awarded the second place. The winner was Bentvelsen Fleer (www.bf-as.nl).
Op 1 na hoogste klimmuur van Nederland
Recent is de klimwand aan ons project Campagneplein op de Campus Twente in gebruik genomen. De klimmuur is vanaf de start van het project meegenomen in het ontwerp. Hierdoor is een gebouw ontstaan waarin de woningen en de klimmuur zich naar elkaar hebben gevormd. Het resultaat is een sculpturaal gebouw met 87 woningen en ruim 2500 klimgrepen. Klik hier voor meer informatie over het Campagneplein, en hier voor het vorig jaar opgeleverde project met 160 studentenwoningen aan de Calslaan, op dezelfde campus.
Our Campagneplein dormitory project's climbing wall on the Twente university campus has been opened for use. The climbing wall was an integral part of the building's design from the first design sketches, whereby the wall and the apartments helped shape each other. The result is a sculptural building with 87 apartments and over 2500 hand and foot grips.
